The Book of Prophets
The Doctrine & Covenants was originally called the Book of Commandments and stops at section 138. For the past 50 years, the continuation of "thus saith the Lord" revelations to His people were found in the Second Book of Commandments. This book was maintained by the School of the Prophets, and had 275 sections.
In October of 2017, the Lord commanded the School to combine the Book of Commandments and Second Book of Commandments into one book. It is now called The Book of Prophets:
"... And ye shall place all My commandments to My current prophets together into one volume beginning with those that were received by My servants Joseph Smith, Orson Hyde, Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff and Lorenzo Snow – who was My last prophet in the church. Then ye shall mention My true prophet John Koyle, for I gave him utterance on several occasions which he wrote not down for fear of persecutions. And lastly My Servant who is an Elias, who under My direction has uttered words to prepare My children, even Israel, for My coming to reign as King of Kings. For in these commandments were revealed many of the hidden things that I promised Mine Israel were to be revealed in the last days. Yet not all."
You are invited to download a partial copy of The Book of Prophets. It will include all the revelations that were in the D&C, as well as several that the early LDS church never published. This PDF will also include the first 105 chapters from The Book of the Prophet Robert C. Crossfield, who held the office of Prophet of Israel from 1961 to 2018 when he passesd away. You should then read, ponder, and pray about these revelations from God as the prophet Moroni admonished.
You can purchase either a printed or Kindle version of The Book of Prophets on the Amazon website:
Here is a list of revelations from the book that are particularly important:
★ March 1961 - Chapter 1
★ January 1965 - Chapter 19

The prophet Joseph Smith has said...
★ Salvation cannot come without revelation; it is in vain for anyone to minister without it (August 8, 1839).
★ Where there is a prophet, a priest, or a righteous man unto whom God gives His oracles, there is the Kingdom of God; and where the oracles of God are not, there the Kingdom of God is not (January 22, 1843).
★ Jesus in his teaching says, “Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” What rock? Revelation (January 22, 1843).
★ A man is saved no faster than he gets knowledge; for if he does not get knowledge, he will be brought into captivity by some evil power in the other world, as evil spirits will have more knowledge — and consequently more power — than many men who are on the earth. Hence, it needs revelation to assist us and give us knowledge of the things of God (April 10, 1844).
★ We must have revelations then, and we can see that the doctrine of revelation, as far, transcends the doctrine of no revelation, as knowledge is above ignorance; for one truth revealed from heaven is worth all the sectarian notions in existence (March 10, 1844).
